False Alarm (burnt food)

On June 14, 2026, at 12:24 p.m, public safety officers responded to a fire alarm activiation in Stallmeyer Hall. Upon arrival, public safety officers deteremined the alarm was caused by a student using a microwave to cook popcorn (burnt food). The Edgewood Fire Department arrived and confirmed the cause of the fire alarm activation. Edgewood Fire reset the alarm and occupants were permitted to return to their rooms.

Theft from Vending Machine

On May 17, 2026, at approximately 4:54 p.m., an unknown male and an unknown female entered the Administration Building and proceeded to the vending machine area outside Seiler Commons. The individuals used a blunt object to force entry into one of the vending machines and removed an unknown amount of cash.

The suspects then exited the Administration Building, walked to a vehicle parked in the Visitor Lot (P1), and left campus.

The theft was reported to the Lakeside Park–Crestview Hills Police Department. The Department of Public Safety provided security footage and assisted with the investigation. Through the review of surveillance footage and additional investigative methods, Lakeside Park–Crestview Hills Police were able to identify both suspects. Criminal charges are currently pending.

False Alarm

On May 16, 2026, at 0738 hours, a public safety officer was alerted to a fire alarm activation in Ackerman Hall. The public safety officer responded and found that the cause of the alarm was smoke head activation in a mechanical room located on the third floor. The public safety officer found no smoke, fire, other hazardous conditions. The alarm was determined to be a false activation. Edgewood Fire Department arrived on-scene and deemed the alarm a false alarm. The fire alarm system was reset, and residents were permitted to return to their rooms.

Public safety officers responded and learned the cause of the alarm was smoke head activation in a mechanical room located on the third floor. Public safety officers responded and found no smoke, fire, other hazardous conditions. The alarm was determined to be a false activation. Edgewood Fire Department arrived on-scene and deemed the alarm a false alarm. The fire alarm system was reset, and residents were permitted to return to their rooms.

On April 15, 2026, at approximately 1300 hours, public safety officers were alerted to a fire alarm activation in Ackerman Hall. Public safety officers responded and learned the cause of the alarm was smoke head activation in a mechanical room located on the third floor. On April 9, 2026, at 1410 hours, the Department of Public Safety was notified of a fire alarm activation at Thomas More University's Ackerman Hall. Public Safety Officers, along with the Edgewood Fire Department responded to the alarm. Edgewood Fire Department investigated the alarm and determined that it was caused by a faulty smoke detector. The Fire Department determined that there had been no fire, the alarm was determined to be false, and the fire alarm system was reset.

On March 20, 2026, at 0830 hours, the Department of Public Safety was notified of a fire alarm activation at Thomas More University's Stallmeyer Hall. A Public Safety Officer, along with the Edgewood Fire Department responded to the alarm. Edgewood Fire Department investigated the alarm and determined that it was triggered by the smoke emitted when a resident overheated her hair with a curling iron. The Fire Department determined that there had been no fire, the alarm was determined to be false, and the fire alarm system was reset.

On March 13, 2026, at 0750 hours, the Department of Public Safety was notified of a fire alarm activation at the Thomas More University Administration Building. Public Safety Officers, along with the Edgewood Fire Department responded to the alarm. Edgewood Fire Department investigated the alarm and determined that it was caused by one of the cleaning staff accidentally activating a fire alarm pull station while cleaning. The alarm was determined to be false and the fire alarm system was reset.

On January 22, 2026, at 2344 hours, the public safety officers responded to a fire alarm activiation in Murphy Hall. Upon arrival, public safety officers with the help of the resident assistants ensured all student evacuated the building.  The Edgewood Fire Department arrived and investigated the cause of the fire alarm activation. Upon investigation it was deteremined the alarm was caused by student using an air fryer to cook food.  Edgewood Fire reset the alarm and students returned to their rooms. The air fryer is not an approved item in the dorm and was confiscated by TMU Housing officals.
