On October 18, 2026, at 10:47 p.m, the Department of Public Safety was alerted to a fire alarm activation in the Saints Center. Upon arrival, Public Safety found the fire alarm was triggered by a smoke detector in the elevator shaft near the Food Lab restaurant. The Food Lab personnel reported that they had caused a large amount of smoke while cleaning their grill tops as they were closing up. Due to the side door of the kitchen - which is adjacent to the elevator, being open, the smoke vented out in this area and tripped the alarm. Edgewood Fire Department arrived on scene, inspected the building and the smoke detector, confirmed there was no fire, and reset the fire alarm system. Students and staff were then permitted to return.
