On October 26, 2026, at 0835 p.m, the Department of Public Safety was alerted to a fire alarm activation at Murphy Hall. Upon arrival, Public Safety found the fire alarm was triggered by a water preasure drop due to the water flow being shut off for scheduled maintenance on the building's hot water heating system. This had triggered the alarm, but there was no fire. Due to the alarm system being on test mode for the maintenance the Fire Department was not dispatched. The alarm was reset and students and were permitted to return to the residence hall.
