On September 25, 2026, at approximately 07:50 am, the Department of Public Safety was alerted to a fire alarm activation in Ackerman Hall. Public safety officers responded to the residental hall to investigate and found the cause of the alarm was a thermal head activation in a mechanical room located on the third floor. The public safety officer found no smoke, fire, other hazardous conditions. The cause of the alarm was undetermined. Edgewood Fire Department arrived on-scene and deemed the alarm a false alarm. The fire alarm system was reset, and residents were permitted to return to their rooms.
