On October 21, 2026, at 1524 p.m, the Department of Public Safety was alerted to a fire alarm activation in the Connor Convocation Center. Upon arrival, Public Safety found the fire alarm was triggered by a smoke detector in the HVAC mechanical area. Investigation found that a welder was working in that area and his work was generating smoke that triggered the alarm, but there was no fire. Due to the alarm system being on test mode for the maintenance the Fire Department was not dispatched. The alarm was reset and students and staff were then permitted to return to the building.
