On October 23, 2026, at 08:09 am, the Department of Public Safety was alerted to a fire alarm system activation in Ackerman Hall. A Public Safety officer responded to the residence hall to investigate and found the cause of the alarm was a thermal sensor activation in a mechanical room on the third floor. The public safety officer found no smoke, fire, or other hazardous conditions. The cause of the alarm was undetermined. Edgewood Fire Department arrived on-scene and deemed the alarm a false alarm. The fire alarm system was reset, and residents were permitted to return to the dorm.
