Course Description:
The goal of this class is to inspire students to think about sound and music in a way that is attentive to the aesthetic, spiritual, social, and political dimensions of musical practice and experience in the 21st century. The readings for the class come from poets, novelists, and philosophers who have thought deeply about the meaning of music in contemporary life. The course may alse involve attending a number of concerts at various local venues.
