Course Description:
This course introduces majors and non-majors to Narrative Storyboarding in a series of basic methods and concept building to create and design Storyboards. Storyboards can be used developing cinematic screen shots for full feature and animated films, commercials, UX design, and other forms of communication that require visual movement to communicate. Students will generate and develop storyboards beginning with introduction to concept development, rough sketches, and eventually refined storyboards through a series of developmental assignments which introduce the student to projects which cover the history of Storyboards, visual and cinematic language, story structure, composition, layout and character expression and emotion. Students will study the role and function of creative thinking, collaboration, composition, and the use of Design Elements and Principles in creating and refining their storyboard. Visual language will be developed through historical research, sketchbook development, group and individual idea generation, introduction to materials and techniques, final execution of artwork and meeting deadlines.
