The Research & Instruction Librarian plays a pivotal role in advancing student learning, retention, and success by delivering course-integrated instruction, one-on-one reference support, and expert guidance in research and information literacy. This role supports faculty and staff research needs and contributes meaningfully to library outreach, resource management, and institutional effectiveness.
Working in a dynamic and collaborative environment, the librarian designs instructional materials, oversees the government documents collection, supports digital resource initiatives, and engages in data-driven assessment to improve library services and demonstrate impact.
Lead the library’s information literacy and instruction program using ACRL Framework best practices
Deliver high-quality reference and research assistance in person and online
Design and maintain engaging instructional content, including LibGuides
Manage the government documents collection and contribute to website maintenance
Analyze service data to inform continuous improvement and strategic planning
Support electronic and print collection development, including Open Educational Resources
Collaborate across campus and participate in outreach and committee service
Assist with general library operations, including circulation and interlibrary loan when needed
To succeed in this role, candidates should demonstrate:
Excellent research and reference skills using both print and digital resources
Strong teaching and instructional design capabilities
A service-oriented approach and effective communication skills
Keen organizational skills with attention to detail
A collaborative, flexible, and mission-aligned work ethic
Master of Library Science (MLS) from an ALA-accredited program
Experience with reference services, information literacy instruction, and database searching
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
