Thomas More University, located in beautiful Crestview Hills, Kentucky, is seeking an individual possessing a combination of creativity, analytical, and communication skills to be an on-site Social Media Specialist.

Position Overview:

The Social Media Specialist at Thomas More University will be responsible for developing and implementing a dynamic social media strategy that engages prospective and current students, alumni, and other key stakeholders. This role focuses on leveraging social platforms to enhance the university’s outreach, digital engagement, and academic reputation.

Working collaboratively with university departments, this position will strategically plan, execute, analyze, and optimize social media content to increase brand visibility, support student recruitment, and promote retention efforts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, schedule, and publish content across social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, and emerging platforms).
  • Craft engaging posts, visuals, videos, and stories tailored to diverse audiences.
  • Maintain a content calendar to ensure a consistent and coordinated message aligned with the university’s mission and goals.
  • Foster online communities by responding to comments, messages, and inquiries in a timely, professional manner.
  • Monitor social media conversations to maintain a positive brand image and address concerns effectively.
  • Collaborate with departments to highlight campus events, achievements, and updates
  • Track and analyze social media performance metrics, providing regular reports with actionable insights.
  • Identify trends and opportunities to improve engagement and reach.
  • Stay updated on best practices, algorithms, and platform changes to optimize content strategies
  • Partner with Marketing and Communications to align social media efforts with broader campaigns and branding initiatives.
  • Collaborate with Admissions and Alumni Relations to create campaigns supporting recruitment, retention, and donor engagement goals.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or a related field.
  • Proven experience managing social media platforms and creating content that drives engagement.
  • Strong knowledge of social media tools, trends, and analytics platforms (e.g., Hootsuite, Meta Business Suite, Google Analytics).
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and communication skills.
  • Creativity, initiative, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in higher education or a similar field.
  • Basic graphic design and video editing skills (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Canva).
  • Familiarity with SEO and paid social media advertising.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, for special events.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting and computer use.
