Basic Purpose:

This position is responsible for advising and counseling traditional incoming and returning students on financial aid programs and processes. Administration of the federal Direct Lending Program is central to this role.

· Ability to develop a high level of understanding of federal and state financial aid regulations as well as financial aid policies and procedures.

Principal Activities

 

  • Advise students/families about financial aid eligibility, application procedures, aid programs, costs, indebtedness, money management and financial planning while individualizing information to the particular needs and situation of the student.
  • Manage the federal Direct Lending Program, which consists of certifying, ensuring eligibility, compliance, and general processing of federal student loans.
  • Process private student loans as needed.
  • Assist in the enrollment process of incoming and returning traditional students.
  • Assist with the packaging process for awards made to students from the student federal and state aid programs.
  • Occasionally present information regarding federal financial aid, scholarships, employment and grants for various campus groups, high school students, and parents at meetings, group discussions, workshops, and recruitment sessions.
  • Keep abreast of all current federal, state and institutional policies regarding the various financial aid programs and assist with training of enrollment personnel.
  • Assist with enrollment events.
  • Maintain an understanding and compliance of all NCAA Division II and Great Midwest Athletic Conference rules and regulations.
  • Adhere to all rules and regulations associated with the NCAA Division II and the Great Midwest Athletic Conference.

 

         

 

 Education, Specialized and/or Technical Knowledge Requirements:   

 

Education:       Bachelor’s Degree required (or commitment to finish degree while employed)

Experience:     Some experience in a higher education financial aid office, preferred

Skills:   Ability to think clearly and communicate in a concise, uncomplicated manner, good math aptitude, ability to present financial aid information to groups of people.
