The Department of Philosophy and Political Science at Thomas More University invites applications for an assistant professor in Political Science. The full-time non-tenure-track position with benefits starts Fall 2024. The teaching load is four courses/semester. We offer our faculty the flexibility to design new courses and team-teach across academic fields, as well as support for scholarship. Other responsibilities include advising, committee work (after the first year), supervision of student research and/or internships, and student recruitment and departmental service. A Ph.D. in Political Science is highly recommended; ABD candidates will be considered. We are particularly interested in candidates who will energetically serve our small but vital department by demonstrating a strong commitment to in-person teaching and will also provide student mentorship in order to grow the major. Ideally, the candidate will be able to teach and advise in our new Philosophy, Politics, and Economics (PPE) major.
Application materials should include: a cover letter; CV (which should include at least three professional references); research interests and teaching statement of 1-2 pages each; evidence of teaching excellence (relative to career stage); a writing sample (no more than ten pages); and unofficial graduate transcripts.
