Basic Purpose

The Manager of Print and Mail Services is responsible for overseeing and managing print and mail services. The Manager will hire, train, and supervise a team of student workers to assist in daily tasks. This role requires excellent customer service to advise, coordinate, and manage a variety of print and mail tasks for faculty, staff, students, and external vendors.

Principal Duties & Activities

  • Manage daily operations and priorities of mail and print services
  • Coordinate graphic, photocopy, and bindery functions to achieve quality printing in a timely, efficient, and cost-effective manner
  • Advise faculty, staff, and students on capabilities and limitations to recommend print options that meet their needs
  • Oversee postal mail collection, sorting, and distribution, including bulk mailings
  • Oversee shipping and receiving from UPS and Fed Ex
  • Establish and enforce University printing policies, including copyright and branding
  • Maintain compliance with federal postal regulations in the receipt, handling, and distribution of mail
  • Manage budget related to mail and printing services utilizing competitive bids, establishing chargeable costs, and contracting with local vendors for specialized jobs
  • Manage the maintenance of equipment to extend operational life
  • Train faculty, staff, and students on printers as needed
  • Evaluate and recommend print and mail technologies, methods, and equipment to best meet the University’s needs and budget
  • Develop and manage student workers by recruiting, hiring, training, and assigning work
  • Oversee departmental ordering of office supplies for the University
  • Complete reports and conduct cost analysis
  • Contribute to the overall success of Print and Mail Services by performing other duties and responsibilities as assigned

 

Education, Specialized and/or Technical Knowledge Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in business, information technology, graphic design or related field
  • Experience in print and mail services or related experience, preferably in a school setting
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Suite Software
  • Working knowledge of federal mail regulations and copyright laws
  • Ability to troubleshoot applicable software and hardware
