What You Will Do:
Join our dynamic team as the Coordinator for the School of Education, where you'll play a key role in supporting student success, program management, and accreditation efforts. This position is ideal for an organized, proactive individual who thrives in a supportive, student-centered environment.
Advocate for Student Success
Be a student advocate by ensuring students meet program requirements, assisting with test scores, transcripts, and interviews, and supporting their journey from application to graduation.
Recruitment & Outreach
Lead efforts to recruit potential candidates by making immediate contact via email or phone and coordinating campus visits, showcasing the department's welcoming and supportive environment.
Student Support & Progress Tracking
Serve as the primary point of contact for students regarding field hours, Praxis exams, VIRTUS compliance, and program requirements, ensuring they stay on track with their educational goals.
Application Oversight
Manage the application process for the Teacher Education Program, graduate programs, and Student Teaching, helping students navigate the path to becoming future educators.
Data Management & Reporting
Maintain student data systems by collecting, organizing, and reporting on key metrics for accreditation and compliance with state and institutional standards.
Event Coordination
Coordinate department and committee meetings, along with on-site events, ensuring seamless execution and fostering collaboration within the department.
Canvas Site Management
Build and maintain the department’s Education Canvas site, making sure course materials and information are accessible and up-to-date for students and faculty.
Accreditation Support
Play a crucial role in accreditation preparation and visits by coordinating reports and surveys, and maintaining necessary records and documentation for a successful outcome.
Observation Coordination
Manage and track student observations, using tools like the Bookings site, to ensure fieldwork aligns with program requirements and timelines.
Alumni and Employer Surveys
Coordinate surveys for alumni and employers, gathering valuable feedback to inform program improvements and maintain strong community connections.
Necessary Knowledge and Skills:
Educational Background:
A high school diploma is required, and candidates with an Associate's (AA) or Bachelor's (BA) degree will be given preference. We value individuals who are eager to learn and grow in a university setting.
Experience:
At least 2 years of experience in a related administrative, clerical, or student services role is essential. This background will prepare you to manage the various administrative tasks, student interactions, and departmental coordination duties effectively.
Organizational Skills:
Strong organizational abilities are crucial for managing multiple responsibilities, including tracking student progress, overseeing applications, coordinating meetings, and maintaining records.
Communication Abilities:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills are key for building relationships with students, faculty, and external partners. The ability to clearly convey information and support students through their educational journey is a must.
Attention to Detail:
A keen eye for detail will help ensure accuracy when managing student files, collecting data for accreditation, and preparing reports. Maintaining thorough and up-to-date records is vital for department success.
Tech-Savvy Mindset:
Proficiency in office software, data management systems, and online platforms (like Canvas) will allow you to efficiently handle clerical tasks, student tracking, and reporting. You should be comfortable with learning new systems and tools as needed.
Problem-Solving Skills:
The ability to anticipate needs, resolve issues, and ensure smooth operations within the department will make you an invaluable asset.
