Ironically, Thomas More chose me! Recruited as a baseball player, I came to Thomas More because of its stellar athletic and academic reputation within the region. After graduate school, I chose to come back to work at Thomas More because it is my home. Having now been on campus for 25 years as a student, coach, and faculty member, I am fully convinced there is no other place where faculty and staff live the mission of the University daily to advocate for young people as they examine the ultimate meaning of life, their place in the world, and their responsibility to others.
As a lifelong native to this great region, my wife Lindsay and I reside (for most of the year) on Cincinnati’s westside. During the summer months, we love to spend time at our home on beautiful Norris Lake down in Tennessee. We love to cheer on our Cincinnati Reds and Bearcats – attending baseball, basketball and football games regularly. As a faculty member at Thomas More, I teach a variety of courses (in-person and online) in both the undergraduate and graduate setting. Recently, I have renovated the Modern European, Medieval and Classical history courses and love to introduce new students each year to the tangible relevance of learning history. I pride myself on delivering a comprehensive learning experience for students – with a blend of traditional and experimental pedagogies and modalities. During the pandemic pivot to remote, several of my online lectures went “viral” on YouTube – with multiple classes reaching over 1 million views. In the past few years, I have appeared locally on Fox Channel 19 and on numerous panels here at Thomas More, discussing the historical relevance of the democratic process and our American political traditions.
Alongside my role as “Prof”, I take pride in being knows as “Coach Eags” around campus. I have served as the full-time assistant coach for the Thomas More softball program since 2015 (my wife Lindsay is the head coach) after working the previous nine years as the assistant baseball coach for the Saints.
