Lauren Barnhill is in her 14th year of teaching at Boone County High School. She holds a bachelor's and master's degree from the University of Kentucky in Vocal Music Education. Under her direction, the Boone County High School Choirs have been consistently rated as distinguished ensembles at district and state Kentucky Music Educators Association Large Ensemble Assessment. BCHS Choirs have traveled to Washington D.C., Gatlinburg, TN, and Williamsburg, VA where ensembles have received numerous awards for distinguished performance. From 2013-2019 Mrs. Barnhill served as artistic director of the Northern Kentucky Children's Ensemble with the Immanuel School of Music. Under her direction, the Children's choir received gold ratings and Overall Best Ensemble with Heritage Music Festivals, traveled to Chicago, Nashville, Orlando and New York City with a performance at Carnegie Hall. In the summer of 2019, Mrs. Barnhill served as director and founder of the Anchor Music Academy in Erlanger, Ky. AMA was founded to help students with financial hardships receive high quality music lessons free of charge. The summer only program provided eight weeks of in person private music lessons to 26 students from across Northern Kentucky. Mrs. Barnhill was awarded KMEA District 6 High School Music Teacher of the Year (2011, 2019) and KMEA State High School Music Teacher of the Year (2020). She has served in various State MEA roles, including District 6 KMEA choral chair.
Mrs. Barnhill resides in Florence, KY with her husband and music colleague, Dan, as well as their three energetic children: Jackson (67, Vera (6), and Eleanor (4). In her free time, she enjoys camping, traveling, sending time outdoors, making crafts, and spending time with family.
