All staff employees. Faculty are excluded from this Policy.
The purpose of this Policy is to establish a process for addressing a staff member’s voluntary separation of employment from the University.
Voluntary Separation: a separation is voluntary if the termination of employment is initiated by the employee (i.e. via resignation or retirement).
Should a staff employee decide to leave the employ of Thomas More University, the University asks that the employee provide his or her supervisor with a written letter of resignation and at least two weeks' notice.
Staff Corrective Action and Discharge Policy
All resigning or retiring employees will be asked to complete an exit interview prior to leaving and return all University property. At that time, the employee will be informed of any benefit rights and continuation to which he or she is entitled. Unused vacation pay will be paid out to employees that leave the University. Unused sick time is not paid out.
The employee should notify the Director of Human Resources if his or her address changes during the calendar year in which the employee leaves so that tax information will be sent to the proper address.
