Course Description:
Prerequisite: BIO 101, completion of sophomore level chemistry. Students will learn about anabolic biological reactions, or the synthesis of the molecules of life. Specific topics covered will include the synthesis of carbohydrates, lipids, amino acids, proteins, nucleotides, DNA, and RNA. Biosignaling, hormonal regulation of metabolism, and regulation of gene expression will also be discussed.
